About EarthShare North Carolina

Our purpose is to strengthen the capacity of EarthShare NC’s 63 member non-profits to preserve and enhance the natural environment. We pursue this mission by raising funds through employee workplace giving campaigns, educating the general public about the value of protecting North Carolina’s natural resources and promoting participation in the work of these organizations.

We make it possible to learn about and support the environment through workplace giving campaigns. Founded by its member charities in 1991, EarthShare NC is an opportunity for environmentally-conscious employees and workplaces to support hundreds of environmental groups through a charitable giving drive. ESNC participates in campaigns at public and private sector workplaces across the state and has raised over $6.5 million to preserve our natural heritage.

What causes can I support through EarthShare North Carolina?
Our donors don't have to choose between supporting public health or our air, water, land or wildlife. EarthShare NC's member charities represent a wide array of environmental issues and one general donation to EarthShare NC can touch all of these causes. You can also designate your gift to one or more specific member organizations. The choice is yours.

How much of my donation goes to the member charities?
More than 84% of donations go directly to support environmental programs. The remainder is to raise awareness about the work of the organizations and to expand the number of workplaces that offer environmental giving options across the state.

How does EarthShare North Carolina qualify its member charities?
EarthShare NC requires applicant organizations to meet 10 different criteria before they're considered for membership. Our strict eligibility criteria were established so donors could be sure ESNC represents outstanding charities that operate with the highest possible ethical and professional standards. All current members undergo annual reviews to ensure their continued adherence to our membership requirements.
